Another year, the prestigious journal specialising in trademark legal protection, World Trademark Review, has chosen the services provided by ABG IP in the category “Prosecution and strategy” of its WTR 1000 ranking. In that category our trademark advisers Christine Weimann and Inés Cantero have been classified as “recommended individuals”, while Laura Montoya has been classified in the “Enforcement & Litigation” category.

“ABG Intellectual Property is a well-known name in the Spanish patent scene, but it also has a sophisticated trademark offering that attracts the attention of both national and international brand owners”, according to the publication.

Trademarks prosecution and strategy

It is worth noting that our Trademarks Department began its journey only three years after our founding, in 2006, under the direction of lawyer and Spanish patent and trademark agent, Christine Weimann. Since 2015, the specialist’s name has been listed in the ranking, and in this most recent edition, they don’t mince words about their professionalism:

Christine Weimann

“Recently, it has been assisting education institution Nuevo Agora Centro de Estudios and domestic start-up Fossa Systems with clearance, prosecution and strategic advice both locally and before the EUIPO, with trademark department head Christine Weimann taking the lead on both matters. A top prosecution specialist and portfolio manager, she has impressive insight across a wide range of sectors and many years of experience practising trademark law”

Since almost eight years ago, Christine has been working side by side with fellow lawyer Inés Cantero, who joined ABG after working for almost three years as an EUIPO examiner. This is the third edition in which our colleague has been chosen by WTR 1000.

Inés Canrtero

By her side, Inés Cantero is a discerning choice for everything from strategic filing to opposition and cancellation proceedings.

Trademarks litigation

The head of our Legal & Litigation Department, Laura Montoya, also consolidates its appearance on the list, after its debut in 2022. In her case, the lawyer is one of the specialists recommended in the “Enforcement & Litigation” section, and WTR saiys about her:

Outside of its stellar prosecution offering, the outfit also has a solid litigation and transactions practice. Laura Montoya leads the group and of late has been assisting several companies in the life science space.

The Global Trademark Review team claims to have spent four months interviewing carefully selected professionals to create this ranking. As a result, this is a huge acknowledgement of the excellent work that these great professionals in trademarks protection and enforcement do every day, aided by their respective teams.

Congratulations, team!
