André joined ABG in 2016 and is a patent adviser in the Chemistry & Materials and Pharma Departments. His main tasks include patent drafting, prosecution, FTOs and opinion work in the pharmaceutical, organic, inorganic and nanotechnology fields. He is a qualified European Patent Attorney (EQE 2021).

Before joining ABG, he was a postdoc at UTT, France and an assistant professor to undergraduate students in polymers. He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in organic chemistry by the Complutense University of Madrid in 2014 and his Licentiate’s degree in applied chemistry by the New University of Lisbon (Portugal).

He enjoyed two mobility grants for pre-doctoral stays in Italy and Germany. His 9-year experience as researcher spans from synthesizing antioxidant compounds (Portugal), photochemistry (Italy), optical sensors and photochemistry (Spain), to DFT calculations (Germany) and nanofabrication (France).

He authored 4 peer-reviewed articles, co-authored a book chapter and orally presented his work in international conferences.

André is a native Portuguese speaker, and he speaks fluent English and French.
